Spirituality Isn’t What We Were Told It Was

I used to think true spirituality lived in the incense smoke, the ancient temples in far-off lands, the crystals, the books, the hu-ha. And sure, those things have a place for many. They can open doors, spark curiosity, remind us that there’s more, but they're not spirituality.

The deeper I went, the simpler it became. Over the decades of searching I’ve learned that the most sacred thing there is… is the breath we breathe. That’s it. That’s the centre. One breath brings you back into the moment faster than any ritual ever could. Knowing this is powerful.

Breath is presence.
Breath is truth.
Breath is power.

Everything else is just stuff, and that stuff exists in so many layers. Symbols, tools, stories. Helpful at times, distracting at others. None of it matters if you’re disconnected from yourself and your truth.

When we understand our truth, and that means knowing our origins, we come to a realisation that can be both confronting and liberating: we don’t actually need anything outside of ourselves to be whole. That's a truth many aren't comfortable with because the programming challenges and says "who do you think you are?"

All power really does come from within. Not as an idea, but as a lived experience. And when you know that, truly know it, you’re free. Free from chasing. Free from outsourcing your authority. Free from believing that something “out there” has what you’re missing.

Here’s the truth bomb:
If it’s not coming from within you, it’s not power, it's second hand revelation that is just noise. When you connect with your own revelations, that's power.

This idea is all about growing up, coming to a place of maturity and ditching so much of the New Age BS that doesn't serve us. It really is time to grow up and realise that so much of what we've been force fed is based in delusion, outdated rituals and in many cases, outright lies.

Come back to your breath. Come back to yourself. Everything sacred begins there, not outside of you.

The most important thing to consider here is what resonates for you. As I said, so many of the things offered up as spiritual do have their place, the key here is knowing what they mean to you and to understand if there time in your life has come to an end.

I trust this helps you on your journey.
